What to expect

~ My Style ~

My goal is to create a relaxed, pressure-free environment for you and your family.  I want to capture you at your most natural and spontaneous.  As the mom of two busy kids, I understand how stressful photography can be, and I do everything I can to make the experience fun and carefree.  I work in natural settings where you can relax, play, and forget I’m there.  I’ll be snapping away freely, capturing eyes, feet, laughter, love, silliness, and pure joy.


~ Booking a Session ~

~ Scheduling ~

I do my best to customize your session to your personal needs.  Whether it be scheduling a morning session for a fresh and rested toddler or an evening shoot to ensure that your entire family is available, I do my best to work around naps, meals, and busy work schedules.  Your session will last from 1-2 hours, depending on location and type of portraiture. Newborn sessions typically last 2-3 hours. The session fee is non-refundable, but I will reschedule once if difficulty arises.  Please notify me at least 48 hours before your portrait session if you must reschedule.  For outdoor sessions, if the weather is not agreeable on the day of the session, I will gladly reschedule to another day.


~ Location ~

Your session can take place wherever you feel most comfortable.  Depending on the style of portrait, I can shoot in your home or at a favorite park, downtown for a more urban feel,  or in other outdoor locations.  Mornings and late afternoons typically work best.  A cloudy ~ foggy day can produce exceptional portraits as well.  In order to make the most of our time and avoid distractions, please invite only the people you wish to have photographed.


~ Inclement Weather ~

Weather can change in a blink of an eye. I will wait until approximately 2 hours prior to a session to make the “weather call” for a reschedule. I will still photograph in cold temps, light rain, and snow. Please keep this in mind when booking your session and plan your clothing accordingly. Cold kids equals grumpy kids! I know! 🙂 For outdoor sessions, if the weather is not agreeable on the day of the session, I will gladly reschedule to another day.


~ What to Wear ~

I recommend casual, classic clothing without writings, pictures, or logos. If you’re wearing transitional lens glasses please take regular ones for the session or use contacts. I love out of the ordinary looks! So feel free to dress AWESOME! If you are booking as a family try to keep a similar theme, but it does not have to be all matchy matchy!  Most importantly, make sure you’re comfortable.  I’m a big fan of naked babies and bare feet. Nothing is more pure and perfect than the skin of a child, or a genuine expression of joy.


~ After the Session ~

Your images will be presented to you approximately 7- 14 business days after the session in an online proofing gallery. Feel free to order prints from this gallery from the professional lab that I use. Your online gallery will be available for 2 weeks.  This provides a convenient way for distant family and friends to view and order portraits.


All images will remain on file for 3 months following your session.


~ Policy ~

All images are copyrighted by Jessica Edens Photography.  It is illegal and unlawful to scan, copy, or reproduce my work in any manner or medium.


Your session fee is due within three days of booking your appointment.  This guarantees the time and date for you.  Should payment not be received in this time frame, the date and time may be offered to another client.


Due to the custom nature of each session, all sales are final. Failure to appear for your season will forfeit your paid session fee.


If you or your child is sick, please call to reschedule. If you must cancel, please try to do so at least 48 hours before your session.


Jessica Edens Photography accepts cash, checks, and credit cards. All credit card payments and all product orders will incur a 6% sales tax.   Checks returned by the bank will incur a $30 service charge, and all orders will be cancelled if they are not paid in full within three days of notification.
